Synopsis:

The sparks of dislike burn hot, but the sparks of mutual attraction burn even hotter.

Ever Montgomery suffered the ultimate betrayal by the one man who she should have been able to count on for anything. It has left her hurt, jaded, and incapable of forming relationships, but it also means that she can spot a liar a mile away. These traits are earning her a reputation as a reporter with a keen nose for a good story and a complete understanding of the extreme power of the written word.

Lincoln Caldwell is the hot goalie for the New York Rangers. At twenty-four and a rising star, he works hard and he plays even harder. He’s gorgeous and carefree—the ultimate charmer. Ladies fall at his feet and the single life has never been lived the way Linc Caldwell does it.

When Ever publishes an article about Linc containing information that she received off the record, she finds herself on the receiving end of the athlete’s fury. Rather than basking in the glory of exposing Linc as a shameless user of women, she finds herself at his mercy when he demands and receives retribution. Required by her editor to trail Linc for six weeks, Ever is forced to look at the real Linc Caldwell.

And she just might find that she has misjudged him.

My Review:

Hello, Lincoln Caldwell! I've become such a fan of the Off Series and I absolutely adored Ryan, and Nix will always have a special place in my heart, but Linc is hot, hot, hot! I swear, the books in this series just keep getting better and better! We first met Linc in Off Limits-- he's Nix's younger brother and Ryan's teammate, goalie for the New York Rangers hockey team. We also got a tiny introduction to Ever Montgomery, our female MC in Off The Record, towards the end of Nix and Emily's story.

I was really excited to read about Linc. You could tell from the small part he played in the previous book that he was a likable, funny, charming guy. Ever is a sweet girl, though a bit jaded when it comes to love and relationships. She's been hurt one too many times and definitely has a chip on her shoulder when it comes to the opposite sex. Emily who is the girlfriend of Linc's brother, Nix, arranges for Ever to get an in depth interview with Linc, during which Linc and Ever really hit it off. It isn't until after the interview that Ever hears some not-so-flattering things about Linc and spies him in a... compromising position. After catching feelings for him, this really hits her hard and she takes it out on him, in a major way, in her article. Obviously Linc is furious and demands that she re-write the article. In order to do this properly, he says, she needs to shadow him 24/7 in order to get to know the "real" Lincoln Caldwell. They have a difficult road ahead of them as they try to work through their differences and Ever tries to move on from her past and work on her trust issues.

I loved the characters, they were relatable and real. I feel like Sawyer's writing gets better and better with each book and of course I'm dying for the next in this series. I also enjoy that we get little bits and pieces of what's going on with previous characters in the series, I've definitely become attached to them all. As in the rest of the books in this series, the sexual tension was ridiculous and the steamy scenes were beyond hot. Linc definitely has the other guys in this series BEAT when it comes to how sexy he is!This one was very emotional. I'm such a crybaby and there were some parts that really had me crying my eyes out, but I loved every minute. Despite being a tear-jerker at times, this book definitely had laugh-out-loud and light-hearted moments. It was difficult to put down and a really enjoyable read. I definitely recommend it to any NA fans!
