My Review:
When we first meet April, she is rushing to class and literally runs into Isaac, a gorgeous, sarcastic, charming stranger, and sparks fly between the two. I don't believe that the synopsis really does him justice, as I'm not really sure what "reputation" it is referring to. There is definitely a case of insta-love between the two characters. At times I found it sweet and really enjoyed it, but there were a few moments when the feelings they developed for each other seemed a bit far fetched for my taste. That's not to say that I wasn't completely wrapped up in the two of them-- they definitely had chemistry and I was really rooting for them.
The trouble is, there's one major complication keeping these two apart. One in which April isn't willing to overlook. In the process of trying to move past her attraction to Isaac, a strong relationship with close her friend Lukas develops. Lukas is everything April needs-- drama free, laid back, easy going, and fun. But Lukas comes with his own set of complications. Between dealing with Lukas, Isaac, and trying to find her place in her new school, April goes through a roller coaster of emotions throughout this story.
There were times when I had a hard time connecting with April. She was very emotional. I'm a crybaby myself, so maybe I can't judge, but there were moments when I really wanted her to be stronger and go after what she wanted. At least figure out what she wanted! Half of the time, she was angry with one person or another for not putting an effort into their relationship with her-- when she told them to give her space. I just felt like she brought some of her problems onto herself.
Now onto the boys... Up until his major error in judgment, I really loved Lukas. Although I was really rooting for Isaac and April, I had a big soft spot for Lukas. He was friendly, sweet, and, above all else, a really great friend to April. I was really disappointed in him later in the book, but I feel like he redeemed himself a bit towards the end there. As for Isaac, I loved him. I was really keeping my fingers crossed the whole time, hoping that these two could get their stuff together and make it work. But I definitely would have loved to see more interaction between the two of them, more of them getting to know each other. Even when they weren't currently romantically involved.
Overall, I was really pleased with this book. Despite the few issues I had, that I mentioned throughout my review, I was invested in these characters and their struggles the entire time and had a very hard time putting the book down. If you're looking for a quick, fun, enjoyable read, this one is for you! I'm looking forward to reading more from this author! 4 stars!
