Synopsis:
We’d both
gone missing at one point, but Claire had one thing I didn’t. Someone to
notice. So why was I the one still here and she the one still gone?
Nineteen year old Megan Smith has spent the past year working in a small town diner in the middle of nowhere. Life is quiet, simple, safe. Then comes the news that her look-a-like has gone missing.
Claire.
Still damaged both physically and mentally, Megan's not looking to be noticed. Wherever she goes from here, it's a road she needs to take alone. But when Nickolas Ellis takes the job as the new nightshift cook, it scares her how easily her defenses crumble down, down, down for him. But there are secrets she can't bear to share with just anyone, unspeakable acts that continue to haunt, and when the similarities of Claire’s abduction couples with the fear of an unwanted visitor in town, the urge to run before it all happens again intensifies, threatening the only happiness Megan's ever found.

My Review:
Nearly Broken. You have ripped my heart out. This is not your usual butterflies and rainbows read. I know, I’ve said that in the past, right? But seriously. This. Is. Dark. It’s definitely a romantic suspense that kept me until the very last page. And I wanted more.
Megan Smith is waitressing in a small town and trying to stay under the radar. She has survived something tragic. She is numb to life and does not want to get close to anyone. That is, until Nikolas Ellis shows up as the new cook at the restaurant. The walls she has built around herself seem to crumble around Nick. As her secret is revealed, she learns so much more. There were things in this book that unfolded that I didn’t see coming. So many twists and turns and just when you think everything is normal, there’s another twist. I seriously could not put this book down.
Nick Ellis. You are dreamy. Let me count the ways. Sigh. He has definitely worked his way up on my book boyfriend list. I loved his character in the story. Megan. Seriously one of the strongest females I’ve ever read about in my life. Like I said, this is a dark story. Some things are offensive and are not for the light hearted, however the author wrote an amazing story, and if you are a fan of romance and suspense, this is a MUST read!
This book was nothing like I expected, and I love when that happens! It was gut-wrenching and I felt every emotion while reading it. I connected to every character throughout this story. I think the author brought to light a subject that is not talked about enough, even though it happens every single day. I am hoping there is more to Megan and Nick's story.
I’ll be honest that I was worried about writing my review. I was not sure how to put in to words how much I enjoyed this book. I want everyone that reads this review that although dark, this book is worth it. Stop second guessing and read it!
