You
know that giddy feeling when you’re reading a book? The OMG THIS is why I read
so much feeling? That is exactly how I felt as I read Only For You! I smiled
the entire time reading. Couldn’t put it down!I became so engrossed in Everleigh and Hunter’s story.
Everleigh
Carsen and her best friend Samantha are attending college in Long Island, New
York. Recently, there have been violent attacks on women across campus. Samantha
convinces, or forces Everleigh to take free defense classes that are being
offered to the women on campus. During their first session, Hunter Charles
enters as their instructor. Sweet. Baby. Jesus. I loved him the moment he
waltzed into the scene. Of course Everleigh makes a snarky comment and gets kicked out of the defense class
on the first day! That isn’t the last she’s seen of Hunter Charles. He shows up
in her life. Again.
I
absolutely adored this book. The banter between Everleigh and Hunter was
hilarious. From the moment they met, the spark was there. They immediately
connected. Due to unknown circumstances, Hunter could only offer Everleigh
friendship. But, as they grew
closer, deep down they both wanted more. They became best friends and suddenly
Everleigh realized she fell in love with her best friend. By accident. Talk about angst and sexual tension!
There was plenty of that in this story. But most of all you get to watch two
beautiful individuals fall in love. Yet their love is challenged by means
beyond their control. There are twists and turns in this story that you never see coming.

crossbones label on him, but I drank his poison nevertheless and loved it; now
I needed an antidote.”
I really enjoyed the
realism of this story. Everleigh was a great heroine in that I found her
relatable. She was witty and intelligent. Hunter was funny, mysterious and
sexy. I loved getting to know them, as well as Everleigh’s best friend Sam. As
you read this story, you become so close to Everleigh and Hunter that when they
are forced apart, you hurt for them. Their story attests that love truly
endures all and knows no boundaries. True love cannot be denied.
“Can I have you, angel? Can I take all of you and keep it?”
While lovers of
Slammed and Easy will love this book, don’t go into it thinking that it’s
similar. This was such a strong debut, and I would definitely put it in a league
of it’s own! There was a part of
this book that was quite emotional. The subject matter was heavy, but the
author dealt with it well. It was so refreshing to read a new adult novel that
was so well-written. The plot, the
characters, the pace of the story were my favorite parts of the book. The pace
is slower than others, but I think this allowed us to truly connect to the
characters. Overall, I highly recommend this read! You will laugh (out loud),
tear up a little, and swoon. This book definitely reminded me why I enjoy
reading so much. I cannot wait for more from this author.

As I approached, Hunter rose to greet me, gallantly appropriating my tray to place it on the table. He dramatically pulled out my chair and assisted me as I sat. I appreciated gentility as much as the next girl, but the whole scene struck me as abnormal.
“Care to tell me what that was about?” I distrustfully queried.
“I was merely practicing proper etiquette.” The twinkle in his eyes belied his innocent excuse.
“You were trying to call attention to our matching faux pas, weren’t you?”
“I will neither confirm nor deny.”
“Ass,” I muttered beneath my breath.
“That is the second time you have called me an asshole,” Hunter said sternly.
“I have never called you an asshole—to your face—I simply left a trail of breadcrumbs from which you could deduce my meaning.”
“Ah ha. You finally admit that our song is ‘Sweet As Hole’.”
“I will neither confirm nor deny,” I said, mocking his earlier statement.
“It was exceptionally ingenious of you.”
“I know, right?”
I caught his smile and realized my mistake. He had tricked me, and I confessed the song I had insulted him with.
“Dammit, Hunter. How do you always outmaneuver me? They should have you interrogate suspected terrorists. You would trick them into revealing their evil plot every time.”
“Nah, terrorism isn’t my specialty.” He winked before suddenly whistling, “That is some lunch you have there.”
“I’m as hungry as the bear I just spent the last hour pretending to be. A salad was not going to tame my ravenous need. Besides, who am I trying to impress?”
“Not me, that’s for sure,” he answered quickly with synthetic sorrow.
“Here I thought you were a martial arts instructor. Are you moonlighting as a comedian?”
“Martial arts is my moonlighting gig,” he paused as if weighing his words. “Where is Sam?”
“I’m not sure. She planned to join us.” I searched the dining room and saw her at the cashier with Robbie beside her. “There she is, her new guy Robbie is with her. Don’t ruin it for her by—just try not to be yourself for a little while.”
“You are a cruel woman, Everleigh.”
