Abby Gillis is used to being
called a promiscuous, uneducated whore. It’s all in a day’s work when you’re a
stripper. Since her job allows her to support her siblings, 24-year-old Abby
takes it all off in stride. She’s never had trouble keeping men at arm’s length
– until she meets ER physician Chris Reneau, who is sexy, sweet and interested
in more than what’s beneath her clothes. As their relationship unfolds, Abby
becomes increasingly aware of the desire building in her for the first time,
and of her yearning to be wanted by the one man who truly sees all of her.
Commitment-averse Chris finds himself in uncharted territory. He wants Abby, that’s clear, but he can’t accept not having all of her. As the distance between them erodes, he tries to convince Abby to give up stripping for a chance at something real.
As the two of them get closer, Abby realizes that truly baring it all has nothing to do with her body. Chris makes her feel more exposed than she ever has, and she has to grapple with what’s left when her notions about herself and those around her are stripped away, leaving only the naked truth.

Charlotte’s office
reminded Chris of her and Reed’s house. The walls were decorated just so, with
photos of the tropical vacations she and Reed had taken. He had never thought
much about things like that, but as he stared at a photo of a lush Hawaiian
waterfall, he considered that Charlotte and Reed had been standing right there,
together. It was a memory they would share forever.
“So, what happened
then, Chris? You guys started to get intimate, and then … where did it lead?”
Charlotte asked.
“I feel awkward
talking about this with my best friend’s wife,” he admitted, sighing.
“Chris, I do this
every day. Just relax and be honest. You’ll find it very liberating.”
“Bill me for this
one. I’ll feel better if this is a professional visit.”
“Don’t be an asshole,
Chris. You’re our friend, and I’m not billing you. Now talk.”
“Okay. So we messed
around, and I ended up … well, you don’t need the full details. I got her off.”
“How did that make
you feel?”
“Amazing. It was
about the hottest thing I’ve ever seen, because … God, this is so strange, but
I cared about making her feel good.
Not just to know I’m good in bed, either. For her.”
“How did she react to
what happened between you?”
“She was
uncomfortable at first, before it happened. She doesn’t mind me seeing her
naked or anything, but she doesn’t like the idea of her getting off when I
don’t.”
“Hmm,” Charlotte
said, furrowing her brows. “Any thoughts on that?”
“Well, I’m not a shrink or anything, but I think Abby’s
sexually repressed. She believes sexual gratification is only for men, and that
she’s supposed to give it, not receive it.”
“You said she was
uncomfortable before it happened. How was she after?”
“Totally satisfied,
of course. Hasn’t Reed told you I’m a rock star in bed?”
“Um, no.” Charlotte
rolled her eyes at him. “And how would my husband know that, anyway?”
“Oh, we had some good
times in college. Before he met you, of course.”
“Good times? Tell me
you guys haven’t experimented with each other or anything.”
“Oh, fuck no,
Charlotte. We shared a room at our fraternity house. I just mean we both had
some sleepless nights while the other was entertaining a woman.”
“Alright, back to
Abby. What do you think is next for you guys?”
“I don’t know. I’m
making her dinner tonight. But I just don’t know. I’m really into her, but the
closer we get, the more bothered I am by the stripping. I don’t want her
sharing that part of herself with anyone but me.”
“You mean her body?”
“Yes, and her
sensuality.”
“But you know that’s
not her heart, Chris. What if you had that? Would it be enough?”
“No. I either want
all of her, or none of her.”
